Tom's full name is Thomas Earl Petty
He was born October 20, 1950 in Gainesville, Florida
Tom's first band was called The Sundowners, the second was Mudcrutch and then finally The Heartbreakers
The Heartbreakers consist of: Tom Petty, lead vocals and guitar, Mike Campbell, lead guitar, Howie Epstien, bass, Benmont Tench, piano and until 1994 Stan Lynch, drums.
Even though "Depot Street" denies it, Tom finished high school and even spent a year at the University of Florida before he dropped out to become a musician
Tom has two daughters, the older one is Adria and the younger one is Kim
Tom has a german shephard named Enzo
Tom has appeared in several movies:: some are Made in Heaven where he plays Stanky, FM where he plays himself and The Postman which recently came out and he desn't just 'appear' in that but (in my opinion) is one of the stars!
