You may be wondering, "What the heck is a Gay Gelding?" It's something we made up. Spot and GA are two geldings that Angela and I used to ride/show. I (Kristin) leased Spot from Rochester Hills Stables and Angela owned G.A. After the two of us became friends between the May '97 and June '97 Win-A-Gin shows, it became evident that they were a little, shall we say, "different" than other horses.  They were well....GAY. And so, they became forever known as the "Gay Geldings."

hehehehe Can you guess which one is named Spot?

Spot

Spot, or Spot-O-Mania, is a 17 year old Appaloosa (cross we think...) school horse gelding! His adorable little pony measurement card says that he is 14.1 1/4hh. He was known throughout the barn as the stubborn pony, but by the end of the year, he would canter from a standstill. My favorite nick name for Spot was "Spamoni-Pony" though I also enjoyed calling him "Spot-did" and "Spot-Tamalie." When I was leasing Spot, I made up a birthday for him, so let's just say he was born on September 27th, 1981 :)

G.A.

G.A., or Golden Accent, is an around 15 year old Quarter Horse (most likely..) gelding. He was owned by Angela from September of 1996 until September of 1997 when he got sold as a school horse. G.A. is not much larger than a pony, standing at around 14.3hh. He has two "bubbles" on either hip where he was beleive to have torn muscle early on in his life (he lived in Georgia doncha know!) He's also got a brand that say G.A. on his shoulder. His nick names included Jay-head,Jay-Brain and JJ, though someone at a show asked if his name was pronounced "Guh" or "Gay."

The time that Angela and I had GA and Spot was the time that we became friends! We really *bonded* after the July 1997 Four Winds Show, to be exact :) So, as usual...we forced our horses to trot side by side, etc. However, no forcing was necessary for these two! They took to each other like...like...like...I'm trying to think of some neato southern expression, but it's just not working :) So...we'll just say they really liked each other! Soon they were dubbed the Gay Geldings. During that summer, they enjoyed playing games like Cow Ponies. Both GA and Spot (along with Angela and Kristin) had a very successful show season in Cross-pole and Beginner, each taking home at least 1 blue and 1 red for their Hunter Skills ;)

Now these guys share a friendship for life! (or is it more than a friendship...?)
