The Graham County Library, established in 1971, serves over 3,000 registered patrons of Northwestern Kansas.In 1977 the library moved to 414 North West Street, a beautiful new home with ample room to grow. The library currently holds some 30,000 volumes, as well as a complete collection of county newspapers - dating from 1878. Using inter-library loan procedures, nthe library can reach out across the nation to borrow materials not locally owned. During the fall and winter , the library provides a pre-school reading program. in the summer, the library sponsors a program for grade-school and junior high students, working in conjunction with the public schools to bolster reading skills and establish good library habits. A trained staff is happy to help with program planning for service groups. Graham County Public Library encourages the arts in western Kansas by sponsoring showing and displays, and is happy to hear from interested artists and collectors.
