The Caged Poet
Thanks for stopping by! My friends call the Caged Poet ( don't ask why, I don't know my self! ), born and nursed in Puerto Rico, I moved to Baltimore, Md on 1986, and that's where I found my passion for Poetry; all due to home sickness and the hard time I have had to endure in order to survive. When I first arrived in Baltimore my english was really poor, and I had a really hard time communicating my feelings and my needs. I had to learn english really fast if I wanted to survive, I got a dictionary and several books and started reading and translating word by word, untill I was able to read and understand, as well as speak and write, they say "when there is a will there is a way" they are right. Now, how did I got in to writing poetry? well! one day I found my self reading a poem by William Blake,
RICHES The countless gold of merry heart, The rubies and pearls of a loving eye, The indolent never can bring to the mart, Nor the secret hoard up in his treasury. by: William Blakefor some reason right after reading this poem I started writing and to a friends surprise ( and my own ) the poem that I wrote was good, ( BLANK PAGES? )and he recomended that I keep writing, and I have! Now armed with a couple of dictionaries, a note book and a pencil I walk about the city of Baltimore, writing about what I see and feel... not to mention my memories from my days back home. Through my writing I have been able to find peace of mind in these hard times as well as in an unknown land ( now my home! ). I just hoppe that some day I will be an example for the next generation, of amateur writers from any country and anyrace.
The poems on this site are the ones that as far a my feelings are, also the style I used is pretty odd ( I have been told ), enjoy your reading.
