Ch'ang O ~ Heng O (Chinese)
Ch'ang-o is a moon goddess associated with the Hare. She was the human wife of an archer named Ki (also known as Yo Hi and I). Her husband shot down nine of the ten suns when the suns rose to burn the earth. Ki was was as ruthless as he was courageous.

For shooting the suns down, Ki was given a drink of immortality (Some verions say pills). One day while Ki was out hunting, Ch'ang-o drank his drink to stop his cruelty. As a result he tried to kill Ch'ang-o.

She escaped to the moon and was protected by the moon Hare who was also the maker of the imortality drink). Ch'ang-o lived happily with the moon Hare and became a moon goddess and protector of children.

The hare made Ki make peace with Ch'ang O and every 15th of the month they reunite at her Palace on the moon.
