In Her earliest forms Bast is portrayed as a lion-headed Goddess, like her twin sister - Sekhmet. After 1000 B.C.E., Bast is depicted with the body of young woman with the head of a domestic cat. She is also portrayed as a seated cat, and when in this form her name changes to Bastet. Pasch is recorded in extremely ancient documents as being an older version of Her name. We get the modern English word “passion” from Pasch.
Bast is one of Ra's daughters. Her worship began around 3200 B.C.E. Bast's sacred city is Bubastis, located in northern Egypt. Her sacred color is green.
