Create a Game Group Project

Directions: After choosing the group’s two sports to combine, create a new game involving both sports. Create a name for the game, equipment list, rules, and any other information you think is needed to play this new game. Below is an outline to help you organize this project.

Tip: If someone who never played or seen this new game played would read about your game, they should have a clear understanding of how and where to play.

Goal

After choosing the group’s two sports to combine, create a new game involving both sports. Create a name for the game, equipment list, rules, and any other information you think is needed to play this new game. Be specific & creative!

Role

All students in the group will be involved in creating a new game. Individual student roles in this project can be broken down in the following parts:

  • Choosing a name
  • Creating rules
  • Creating an equipment list
  • Explanation on how this game is played

 Audience

Other students in the school will play your game. After games are created and played in class, websites will be provided where groups can submit their new games for review.

Situation

Designing a new game is a creative process. It’s not an easy task, but think about how your group will feel when others are playing and enjoying your new game!

Product

Groups will create a new game and detail all things relevant to playing. This includes: a name for the game, rules for the game, equipment list, where to play, how to play and other information someone would need to play. Don’t forget to address time (halves, periods etc.), player details (how many players per team), any modifications that may be necessary, and specifics on where this game can be played (court, grass, ice, indoor, outdoor, etc.)

Standards/Criteria

Your new game can be as creative as you wish. Your group is creating this game. You are on the right track if you give someone a sheet of paper with an explanation of your new game, and they have a clear picture of what this game will look like when played. Please refer to the assignment rubric for grading information.

Good Luck!
