Before God Created A Flower
Before God created a flower
He saw his child bending down
To delight in the wonder of a beautiful smell
To wonder and ponder the mystery it tells
He thought it much better to quietly show
That there had to be someone, a father, you know
Who created a flower, who created a child,
A child who would ponder and then who would smile
A child who could look at a flower and tell
That it wasn’t a flower at all, it was, well,
It was love, it was reaching, it was telling the world
God created a flower to blossom a soul.

When God's Love Fails
When God’s love fails
There will be no more reason
To go to the world
And to tell of his seasons
His seasons of caring
His ages of toil
His patience in harvest
His joy in the soil
In the fruit slowly growing
Like grapes on a vine
In the reaping of preciousness
Ripened by time
When God’s love fails
There will be no more reason
To go to the world
And to tell of his seasons

Second Coming... Till Then
Someday the clouds will spread apart
And I’ll see in the sky
What I have waited for so long
What I’ve believed and for which I’ve cried
Someday the clouds will disappear
And all things will be plain
I’ll see him clearly coming down
To take me to his kingdom reign
Till then the kingdom’s on the ground
Till then the clouds above
Till then I’ll tell of coming love
But I’ll believe in what I’ve found
His kingdom, down on earth.

Disappeared Into The Illusion
There once was a guy
With long, blonde hair
That blew in the wind -
With only one care
A guitar in his hand
And a light in his eyes
A heart that beat brave
A passion that cried
And his soul knew no bounds
Born to rock and to roll
He sang what he loved
He wrote from his soul
His voice carried vision
His God was enthroned
In a heart that unchained
All the rules we had known
This guy that I love
With the long, flowing hair
Called us to follow
And we did, and we cared
But more than his face
Has now disappeared
Sometimes you still see it
When an idol appears
For He represents all
That was lost long ago
We think we still have it
But it left with our souls.
Disappearing like smoke
The illusion is here
But where in the wind
Is our long, flowing care?

About Larry Norman, the founder of contemporary Christian music
The Kingdom of God
Is the Kingdom of God
Now on earth, did we die?
Did we miss all the rapture
Of a cloud-rolled-back sky?
Did Jesus return?
Did we miss him again?
I’m so tired of waiting
Is that why we began
To celebrate reigning
In our kingdom on earth?
Did he come, does he miss us?
Is his Kingdom the earth?

So Many Steps To You
The footsteps of the first, first church
Can be traced, my love, to you
You gave your all to keep it pure
Passed down the scroll in time, in truth
There is honor for you in the steps you’ve trod
So many steps to you
There is blessing and honor for you in your call
In the churches of Christ there is truth
Such a passion for keeping so close to his word
Such a passion - a gift that is rare
Such obstinate faith every word is inspired
The scribes, yes, you are, of the heart of his truth
So many steps from the ancient of days
The scribes kept each syllable pure
They guarded each word, they gave up their lives,
And the path that they walked led to you
The churches of Christ were handed the scrolls
At the gateway of Old and of New
Entrusted with passionate care for his Word
There have been so many steps till you
