My earliest complete recollection is of walking with my Father through busy streets of Plymouth on the way to have my photograph taken at a studio, holding on to his big hand, and striving to keep up with his long strides - my Father was tall and straight and had long legs. We lived in the city of Plymouth although my Father was from Greece and my Mother from Jersey. I had been born in Plymouth. My maternal grandparents had come to that city from the channel island of Jersey and set up a business as Herbalists in the city centre.
