1962 - 1963

Haida Division, Winter '62/'63
Haida Division is the platoon that forms the Guard of Honour when one is required. At Annual Inspection in June 1963 it will win the award as the Most Proficient Division. Meeting of the minds . . .

New CO's Inspection
It's December 1962 and the Executive Officer, Sub-Lieutenant Burridge, and Bonaventure Divisional Officer Midshipman Babb accompany the "new" Commanding Officer, "Lieutenant" Rene Lefebvre on his inspection. They're following the Naval Christmas Tradition of the youngest member of the Ship's company switching places with the Commanding Officer for a day. From the Ken Phelan collection.

PO2 Rick Elger
A happy, just promoted Petty Officer Second Class Richard Elger. This promotion came into effect 29 April 1963, so why is this cadet still wearing his winter sweater instead of his white gun shirt? Anybody? Anybody??
