Chapter 29: On When to Uncover One's Head

Let it be known that at the Divine Liturgy we* uncover our heads at: the Entrance, while listening to the Holy Gospel, during the Cherubic Hymn at the Great Entrance, when we hear the words of Christ**, during “It is truly meet…,” during “Our Father…,” when the Holy Mysteries appear, and at the Entrance during Vespers.


* "We" refers to male monastics and clergy. Women, generally, do not remove their head coverings in the temple except on rare occassions, such as the tonsure of a nun.
