Week Ten:

There's Something Very Peculiar...

Sept. 9-13: A boring week. I wrote some new stories and worked, that's it.

September 14: I went to a friend's house and taught her to make cheesecake. We didn't have the right pan or quite the right ingredients, but it turned out okay. She taught me to make some jewelry out of beads and fishing line, which was really fun. I'm going to get a book and try my hand at it. We spent the afternoon and evening cooking and making jewelry, and it was very pleasant.

September 15: Today I went to Nagoya to meet Yukihiro, who is a nice guy. We had lunch and went shopping. Guys will actually go shopping in Japan; it's pretty cool. We had Italian food for lunch, which was good but weird. I had lasagne, which was okay except that it had proscuitto and hard boiled eggs in it. the ham was a nice touch, but eggs? Everywhere I go I find wierd stuff pop up in normal looking food... Afterwards, we just wandered around the shopping center and chatted. In the evening, and I met Matthew and some friends in sakae for Korean barbeque. It was really good, except...some of the meat was a little...different. I had some tongue which didn't taste too bad if you didn't think about it. Then we got something chewy. I asked what it was and got a vague "Cow parts" in reply. Finally, one of my friends made a swirling motion with her finger. There's something unnerving about the moment you discover you're chewing on a cow intestine. I let Matthew have the rest of mine. Later they brought something that looked like ground beef and tasted sweet. No one would tell me what it was, but I would bet money it was brain. I let Matthew have that, too. Aside from that, the food was really good and I liked it a lot. Afterwards, we went to a coffeehouse for dessert. I had banana cream pie and caramel tea. It was a pleasant finish to a lovely day.
