11) CHAIN LOCKER - DEATH AT SEA

Author: The Lion - Washington DC
As a new member of Masters, Mates and Pilots Local 88 in New York, I proudly bid on my first Merchant Marine job as a Third Mate on a ship sitting in Bombay India. I got to fly first class on TWA (@24 hrs). This was during the Viet-Nam Sealift and they needed people bad. The Second Mate had died and the Captian had been standing his watch. Apparently he had a heart attack and his next of kin asked that he be put on ice until the ship got back to New York. His kin picked him up and apparently had an autopsy performed. Everything was smooth until the report came back as to the cause of death..........Freezing!
