If you were on trial for being a Christian,
would there be enough evidence to convict you?
Do not despair that you cannot change
The world in a day or two---
Instead, just give your very best
In the little things you do.
Then you will find, in days to come,
When taken all together,
These little steps did change and make
The world a little better.
Thomas C. Gallagher
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints in the sands of time.

Words of Wisdom from Abraham Lincoln"Without the assistance of the Divine Being. . .I cannot succeed.
With that assistance, I cannot fail.""I have so many evidences of God's direction that I cannot doubt this power comes from above. I am satisfied that when the Almighty wants me to do or not to do any particular thing, He finds a way of letting me know it."
"I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God."
"I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had absolutely no other place to go."
There are two ways to live your life.
One is to live as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is to live as though everything is.
Albert Einstein
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Yesterday is history....
Tomorrow, a mystery....
Today is a gift,
That's why it's called "the present".
Don't be afraid to try something new;
Remember, amateurs built the ark,
Professionals built the Titanic!
THE SERENITY PRAYER
GOD,
Grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
At Day's End
Is anybody happier, because you passed his way?
Does anyone remember that you spoke to him today?
The day is almost over, now the toiling time is through;
Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?
Can you say tonight, in parting with the day that's slipping fast,
That you helped a single brother of the many that you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said?
Does a man whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead?
Did you waste the day, or use it? Was it well or sorely spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say,
"You have earned one more tomorrow by the work you did today."
.........John Hall
LORD, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy;
Oh, Divine Master, grant
That I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born
To eternal life.
.....St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, Teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
To give, and not to count the cost;
To fight, and not to heed the wounds;
To toil, and not to look for rest;
To labor, and not to ask for reward,
Save that of knowing I am doing Your will.
St. Ignatius Loyola
THE UNIVERSAL PRAYERTeach me to feel another's woe,
To hide the faults I see;
That mercy I to others show,
That mercy show to me.
Alexander Pope
(1688-1744)
Within this ample volume lies
The mystery of mysteries:
Happiest they of human race
To whom their God has given grace,
To read, to fear, to hope, to pray,
To lift the latch, to force the way;
And better had they ne'er been born
That read to doubt, or read to scorn.
Sir Walter Scott
(1771-1832)
"Max"-ims,
by Max Lucado
Mercy, if it could be earned, is no longer mercy;
Grace, if it could be deserved, is no longer grace.Greed I've often regretted,
Generosity, never.I'm never surprised by God's judgments,
But I'm constantly amazed by His grace!When we get to heaven, we may be awfully surprised at some of the people we'll see there. And some of them may be awfully surprised to see us!!!
When we begin to look for the cause of our problems, it's usually better to look in the mirror than out the window.
We can never forgive somebody else more than God has forgiven us.
To seek revenge is to be very irreverent. It is saying, in effect, "God, you better let me deal with this one; you have a tendency to go too easy sometimes, and I don't think you'll give this one what they deserve."
On the other hand, to let God deal with it is very reverent. It is not an admission that the person who wronged you was right, but it IS a sure realization that God is in control, and will do the right thing.
I can't understand how a man can be smart enough to accrue riches in this world, and yet fail to make preparations for the next one. I mean, it's not as if God kept the future a secret! One visit to the cemetery is enough to show that we're all going to die. And one funeral should be enough to show that we can't take anything with us.
I've tried in vain a thousand ways,
My fears to quell, my hopes to raise,
And all I need, the Bible says,
Is Jesus.My soul is night; my heart is steel.
I cannot see; I cannot feel.
For light, for life, I must appeal
To Jesus.He died; He lives; He reigns; He pleads.
There is love in all His words and deeds.
All, all a guilty sinner needs
Is Jesus.Though some will mock, and some will blame;
In spite of fear, in spite of shame,
I'll go to Him because His name
Is Jesus.
