June 1, 1903

Attended mass. Cleaned part of the calf-pasture-wood. Jno Fleischhacker and Lizzie & Lena Blonigen were here. Broke bicycle.

 

June 2, 1903

Washed. Brushed near the potato field. John shot a woodchuck. Mother and I drove to country. Peter and Math stretched a wire along a fence in the pasture.

 

June 3, 1903

Peter worked on the road till 6:00 PM. Math and I pulled out posts at the river. Peter hauled them home. Went fishing and caught 8 "kids". K. Schmitz came.

 

June 4, 1903

Tore down straw stack fences. Brushed the rest of the calf pasture. Cleanded part of the pig-yard. Hauled brush out of calf-pasture into pasture. John and I went to confession.

 

June 5, 1903

John went to communion. Hauled brush and straw. In the morning could not find Waldman. Finally found him near the garden. Peter and I …..potatoes. Took corn cultivator at Dan.

 

June 6, 1903

Cultivated corn. Worked in the garden. Father drove to Albany. He nearly had a runaway. Bought 3 turtles.

 

June 7, 1903

No Vespers. Richmond defeated St. Martin by a score of 18 to 9.

 

June 8, 1903

Rained in the forenoon, worked at the creamery business.

In the afternoon cultivated corn. Repaired wire fence at hen-stable.

 

June 9, 1903

Washed. Sold calf. Jos. Rausch was here. Lost Waldmann. Cultivated potatoes. Found Waldmann near potato field.

 

June 10, 1903

Mowed burdocks. Hauled trees to altar.

 

June 11, 1903

Corpus Cristi. Attended mass. Mowed weed on Sec. 22. Tied Waldmann to a barrel. J. Rausch was here.

 

June 12, 1903

Harrowed potato field. Mowed weed on Sec. 22. Joe Rausch was here. 

 

June 13, 1903

Mowed weed on Sec. 22. Cultivated corn. Math and I haulded gravel. Had a small runaway with Joe & Flora.

 

June 14, 1903 (Sunday)

John Doll was here. Went fishing. Got 4 small ones.

 

June 15, 1903

Attended funeral of Mrs. Agnes Flynn. Mowed on Sec. 22.

 

June 16, 1903

Fixed fence on the other side of the river. Father took bran at Richmond.

 

June 17, 1903

I went to Peter Schmitz. Traded pig with P Schmitz. Peter inspected the hay on Sec. 22. Pulled out engine.

 

June 18, 1903

Sawed heating stove wood. Math broke bicycle in collision with P.J. Krebsbach.

 

June 19, 1903

Raked hay and took a load home. Math went to communion.

 

June 20, 1903

Took the rest of the hay home. (2 loads) returned from Peter Schmitz and Kay Schmitz went home.

 

June 21, 1903

No Vespers. Albany Juniors defeated St. Martin by 14 to 12. Mother and father visited M. Blonigen.

 

June 22, 1903

Supervisors were here. Father Math and I picked 1/2 gal strawberries.

 

June 23, 1903

Math and I took ashes at Richmond. Sawed wood.

 

June 24, 1903

Worked in the garden. Father drove to Paynesville. Split wood. Cultivated potatoes. Movers stopped here in the evening. Father brought a lubricator from Paynesville.

 

June 25, 1903

Cultivated corn. Split wood. Father and mother drove to Peter New and J.A. Michaels; Peter New being seriously ill.

 

June 26, 1903

Cultivated corn. Split wood. Removed the straw in the stable. Fixed threshing machine. Peter New died at 8:00 P.M.

 

June 27, 1903

Dick was sick. Attended the guard of the corpse of Peter New.

 

June 28, 1903

Math, John and I drove to Richmond. Richmond defeated St. Martin 28-22. Father and Mother drove to Peter New.

 

June 29, 1903

The funeral of Peter New took place. Mowed the slough.

 

June 30, 1903

Washed. Plenty of rain.
