There was a small blizzard therefore we didn’t do much in the forenoon. In the afternoon Father and Peter took 2 loads of hay on Sec. 12.
January 8th, 1903
In the forenoon I and Math finished everything in the stable and in the afternoon we took the rest of the hay from Section 12. Father having a survey.
January 9th, 1903
I and Math went to communion (first Friday) Peter hauled one of the sisters from Little Falls.
January 10th, 1903
Today was quite bad, Father and we didn’t do much except I and Math reset the traps down at the river.

Nothing worth mentioning happened.

In the forenoon we worked in the stable and in the afternoon took a load of wood.

Peter and I took 2 loads of wood. Nothing else worth mentioning happened.

In the forenoon Peter and I took a load wood, in the afternoon we took a load of straw at Fleischhackers and tipped over.
January 15th, 1903
Peter and I took 2 loads of wood. In the evening the wolves howled seriously but none were near our traps.

We took 4 loads of hay near Henry Shaefers. Saw footsteps of wolves (tracks)
January 17th, 1903
We took 4 loads of hay near Henry Shaefers. 2 loads in the forenoon and 2 in the afternoon. Set traps for the skunks near the bridge.

Don’t know anything.
January 19th , 1903
We took 4 loads of hay. There was a skunk in the trap. The trap wasn’t properly fastened. The skunk ran into another hole and we set a trap there.
January 20th , 1903
We took 2 loads of hay. The skunks went out of that hole and into the original one. She step on the trap but the trap was frozen and did not catch her. I set a trap there. Rec’d desk from M. B.

We took 2 loads of wood.

Took 2 loads of wood. Played Solo in the eve. I won 42. cents
January 23rd, 1903
We took the rest of the poplar wood for the year (2 loads). We saw a wolf.
January 24th, 1903
We took another load of wood because there was so much water poplar among them. Started sawing by hand. We got the skunk it was lying in the hole (dead) I stripped it.
January 25th, 1903
Math Blonigen and wife paid us a visit.
January 26th, 1903
In the afternoon Peter and I took 2 half loads of straw at Fleischhackers. Wolves howled.
January 27th, 1903
We sawed wood the whole day.
January 28th, 1903
We sawed wood the whole day. Father drove to Albany and brought a cold blast lantern and a splitting axe along.
