In the forenoon we split posts and in the afternoon we sowed.

 

April 8, 1903

Sowed and harrowed.

 

April 9, 1903

Attended mass, prayed one rosary and in the afternoon we sowed and harrowed.

 

April 10, 1903

Attended mass in the afternoon it rained pretty much.

 

April 11, 1903

In the forenoon we attended mass and in the afternoon we plowed in the pasture. Peter Rausch died.

 

April 12, 1903

Were informed by Mary Heines that our lost calf was lying down in the road unable to get up. In the evening Peter, Math L., Nic Blonigen and I went to the guard of the corpse of Peter Rausch.

 

April 13, 1903

In the forenoon tried to get the calf home, in the afternoon took it over with the boat and then home with the wagon. Started plowing in the pasture.

 

April 14, 1903

Last night Father had great pains in the abdomen. I took P. Martin at 12:30. The pains ceased till 5 o’clock when the started again and lasted till 7 o’clock. Sowed and harrowed. Calf died last night.

 

April 15, 1903

Sowed and harrowed and plowed in the pasture.

 

April 16, 1903

Sowed and plowed in the pasture. Harrowed the piece near the house.

 

April 17, 1903

Sowed and harrowed on Sec. 22. Harrowed the piece in the pasture.

 

April 18, 1903

Sowed on Sec.12. father drove to the Roscoe Depot and seeing that John B.’s suit was not there from Sears R. & Co. He drove to Richmond and bought one there.

 

April 19, 1903

34 children received their First Holy Communion. Kasper Knurr died at 12 o’clock.

 

April 20, 1903

Sowed and harrowed on Sec. 12.

 

April 21, 1903

Plowed and sowed and harrowed in the 6 acres. The deceased K. Knurr was buried.

 

April 22, 1903

Washed. Finished sowing at 11:30. In the afternoon took 2 loads of hay on Sec. 22.

 

April 23, 1903

Took 4 loads of hay (the rest) on Sec. 22. In the eve Math and I went fishing in the mud-hole but got 6.

 

April 24, 1903

In the forenoon shelled posts. In the afternoon fixed fence at the river.

 

April 25, 1903

Went to church. (Marcus) In the afternoon took 2 loads of straw at Fleischhackers.

 

April 26, 1903

"Niece"! Alvind and Norbard were here. Kasper Knurr’s property was sold at public auction after Vespers. Math Sauer Auctioneer. In the eve Tom Taylor from Millet brought 6 cub wolves. Hubert and Nick Blonigen were here.

 

April 27, 1903

Washed. Peter hauled sand the whole day (for the cemetary) I drove to Roscoe and took 445 lbs. of wire at F. Waggoner.

 

April 28, 1903

Supervisors were here. Plowed and harrowed garden. Took 2 loads of straw at Fleischhackers.

 

April 29, 1903

Bad weather. Snow storm. Worked at the Cry. Business. N. Blonigen and P. Schmitz were here.

 

April 30, 1903

Went wolf hunting. I and John went to confession. Father drove to Wm. Arndt.
