OUR FRIDGE

the calendar on the left came in the mail yesterday courtesy of LA City Councilman Tom LaBonge, of the 4th District. The calendar is an offering of photos of our beautiful city, which he took himself. His wife and children designed the layout of the calendar.

I don't know much about LaBonge, but this is just about the nicest gesture I can remember by an elected representative. The photos are beautiful and it is great to see that someone else thinks we live in a beautiful and magical place---not a tawdry and silly one, like some want to say. Hollywood is an easy target. There's also nothing like it in the whole world.

"Urban Light" by Chris Burden is the January scene. The Topanga artist's outdoor installation features wonderful old streetlights all together and can be seen at the Eli Broad Contemporary Art Museum (formerly LACMA....Broad's support is keeping it going, and it is truly a gift to see support of public art.)
