The Other Side and The Signal on KCRW, Santa Monica
I am putting some old radio shows online here for anyone's listening pleasure. Unusual music in a mix you will not hear on 99.9 per cent of radio stations in this country.
KCRW is still great. With great music. ;))

From 1998 journal....
...I thought today that most of society and culture represents a web of lies and delusions and denials and products based on layers and layers of such....products of compromise and denials based on other denials making up the dense fabric of communication, art, and consciousness around us....then I thought that Van Gogh's paintings are like slashes in that fabric, tears through which the undiluted brilliance of God can shine through. --Sometimes, but rarely, these rips occur...but only at great cost...esp. for Vincent who paid with his sanity for his uncompromise, for example..
only by fighting the lethargy of a long line of women on my mother's side, can I produce any sort of rip in that fabric, for a light to shine through and fall on others. But if I do nothing else I would like to do this. Because anything else consists of death. You are either weaving more threads into that fabric, or you are ripping it. Never both.

The Birds Keep My Soul Alive
"Muslims want to kill us"
with black sonshine and a nod to garth trinidad for bringing their music to southern california airwaves
(and it smelled tasty)
in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of "Spiritus Mundi"
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
A Bedtime Story for the New Millenium.
