Broccolli Soup
A game dedicated to Agostina, who invented it on learning that broccolli was a plant, therefore at that age, all plants became broccolli!!
Ingredients:
A fair weather day
one or more children
Space outdoors
A toy plate, knife and cooking pot for each child
Procedure
The child or children go around the garden or park, and collect a leave, flowers, seeds or petals from each plant they see, clover, grass, dandelion, herbas or whatever ( even broccolli if you have any!! Wherever possible the mother or the grandmother, identifies the"ingredients" and gets the children to smell them
Then each child cuts up his ingredients on the plate, and puts it in his cookpot. Add a little water and mix well. The child with the most colourful"soup" or the nicest smelling, wins. My granddaughter offers it to her teddies, then puts it in the compost bin.It is surprising what they remember the next time the game is played, plant names, culinary or medicinal use if they have any!!
