Uncle’s Prayer
Even though we had faced a problem beyond our control, which tempted us
at various degrees to reverse our trip, thinking why do we have to do this
to ourselves, but I think with my uncle’s prayer for a better life
overseas, he pressed us forward until we reached a camp along the
Cambodian and Thai border called the Old Camp. There we met our brother
and father, during the night while we were sleeping our uncle talked to
our father, requesting that my older brother come with us to Kao E. Dung
Camp, hoping to go to the United States one day. Uncle had a dream that he
would bring us to the United States, so that his children would have a
better life and education - “a better future for them,” he told dad. My
father who had always loved and listened to my uncle agreed to let our
brother come with us. But my brother at the time could not make up his
mind until a couple months after, when he and our cousins walked across
the Thai border into the Kao E Dung camp. When my cousins returned back,
my brother decided to stay with us. Praise the Lord for this miracle!
