Second Mission: A call from the Lord to serve as a Song-writer… .Well! The Lord would not let me rest at this; all along He had been
equipping me with special gifts and talents to serve Him in Cambodia.
Jesus had put something in me to make me thirst and hunger so that I could
help complete the task He had for the people of Cambodia, especially, our
brothers and sisters in the family of God who would listen to His words
through songs and sermons. Yes, God had brought me all the way from the
United States to Cambodia to write songs, to translate, and to preach the
sermon to His people whose tongue is Khmer (Cambodian). This legacy
started four years ago, from 2000 to 2004. It began like this. In July,
2000 I was able to visit Cambodia for the first time in 20 years. I went
as part of a short-term mission team that included friends from
International Teams and from the Philadelphia Cambodian Evangelical
Church. While in Cambodia we met Mickey Sampson from Cooperative Services
International (CSI) who has a recording studio ministry. This was when the
Lord called me to serve Him in Cambodia. In September 2001, I was sent by
my local church through International Teams for a four month period to
develop music and teach the bible to a group of students from the
surrounding universities. During this time, I was not able to accomplish
many of my music ministry goals because of the flood in Cambodia which
flooded the studio. I was only able to write three songs: two are songs
about the life of Joseph for a video and one is a song to teach children
about health and hygiene. Then in June, 2001, I returned again to Cambodia
on a one year assignment. This time, we were able to finish one tape of 16
original songs. I also preached at many churches and developed 21 pages
for a leadership training seminar. God is continuing to open doors for me
to do ministry in Cambodia. In November 2002, I went on a two year
assignment with International Teams. I continued to serve at the CSI
recording studio (now it is RDI, and it stands for Resource Development
International) and was involved with leadership training through local
Khmer churches. I want to praise our Lord for granting me this wonderful
opportunity and the ability to serve Him in this needy country. Without
our Lord Jesus Christ, I cannot do anything. On the other hand, with His
powerful Spirit, God can use me to help fulfill His great commission. This
can only be done with sincere partners who are committed to pray and
support for this ministry in Cambodia. I am thankful for everyone who
partners with me in this ministry. ˙ Kindly send any donations to: International Teams, Khath Ourng Fund, 411 West River Road, Elgin IL 60123-1570, Please make your checks payable to: International Teams, Khath Ourng Fund Thank You for your support and prayers
