Briars Jeakers

B riars Jeakers grew up in a Faendryl household. Due to Briars's pale white skin at the time of conception, and the fact no other Faendryl in the area looked nearly the same he was quickly ostracized as a freak. Abused not only by society, but by his parents he was eventually expelled from the household as a young man. He quickly took up with a band of wandering hobbit gypsies. Hoping to leave his previous Faendryl life behind he took on a name they called him "Briars" and took their family name, "Jeakers." They called him Briars because of his dislike of being touched, similar to a patch of briar thorns. He also developed the eccentric taste for pink during his stay with the hobbits; due to the fact it was about all they wore. Upon reaching Wehnimer's a few years later he decided to leave the Hobbits to pursue something better. He immediately stuck to Frith's Inn and the Treehouse and was trained as a sorcerer by Lord Traglore.

Likes & Dislikes
Briars strongly dislikes pomp (which he ironically represents in many ways) and arrogance. While his sense of humor usually involves bloating himself in an egotistical way, if questioned in quiet he would admit that he is no different nor better than anyone else. Unlike most people at the time, Briars found a strong distaste towards the Ice Age group of people and their elitist tendencies. Of course there were exceptions, and he counted Bleys and Mustafo as two of his best friends; for the most part he hated the entire ideals they stood for. He found exceptional hypocrisy in the older generation of people. He found that such "legends" as Thalior, one of the most respected sorcerers, to be boring and foolish. In the course of his life the amount of conflict Briars was involved in constitutes his lack of interest in people in general. Not to say he did not have friends, but to say he did not have any "close" friends was true. There were points where Briars came to the conclusion that the majority of Elanthians must be used as tools for his own enjoyment, hence resulting in rash destructive raids of other towns. However his ideology did allow him to give everyone a chance; it was simply up to them to decide whether or not he deemed them worthy of respect. He enjoyed Teras Isle (at times), Wehnimer's, and River's Rest the most. He had a strong distaste for Icemule because he saw it as having little redeeming value.

On the Arkati...
In the beginning, Briars had utmost respect for Koar. However, he refused to submit to any of the Arkati's whims, or even acknowledge them the better. Later in life, he came to the belief that the Arkati did not exist. In many ways, he became the first Elanthian Atheist. He found that the Arkati only existed because people wished them to exist; people wanted some greater power to control their destinies. He believed the "Arkati" was merely a term used to describe a higher power; an inexplicable higher power. Briars had a belief in mankind (not just humans of course) and their power. He found that the power to be found was in Elanthia, not in the skies. Therefore, he denied the existence of any of the Arkati. He considered them illusions conjured by the minds of the ignorant to explain their own existence's.

Conflict & Raids...
There's little else to add. The last raid Briars organized should be noted as a massacre of his group. Icemule found out about his plans because he made them public, and they organized a formidable army to prevent the raiders from causing much destruction. There was plenty more conflict in Briars life than simply the tours: kidnapping and murdering Ylandra, taking unwilling participants on Teras Tours. The list continues on and on. At one point early in his career Briars was actually banished from the lands for a month because of his tree spirit lessons. Which consisted of waiting for a huge tree spirit party to poach his kill, then threatening all of them with death if it ever happened again. As he grew up Briars rarely hunted with others, and detested group hunting to the fullest. He received significant flack for this practice.
