Press Conference Notes
(As Promised)

Well, our coaching staff is extremely pleased at the moment! We have found the perfect candidate for to draft (it's almost scary how this addition fits perfectly with the coaching specifications...)
However, we are unsure of this player's free agent status (which should have been a top priorty really, but we were distracted by the talent to be honest) so hopefully, said player is a free agent and thus we can sign him, assuming he agrees to play for our team. However, we are not currently pressing signing talks and have only begun preliminary meetings and negotiations, but things apparently are looking up. We're sensing some interest (the slightest bit, really) from that side and hopefully we'll see great things for this team in the near future.
But at the moment, we are not disclosing anything as we are still keeping our options open and always looking for up and coming, prospective talent. Although we would prefer to sign a free agent, sometimes you can't help but look at those players about to be released from their exisiting teams (although sometimes its hard to tell for sure, and you never want to show interest in a player until they are officially released or currently without team.)

Anyway, that's the update from the press conference. There should be more later on, but as I said, since we are not pressing signing, negotiations are rather slow and thus may take a while to generate any new information.

All I Can Say Is WOW
The game last night was crazy! Even though we had the very last seats in the Palace (I like to think it was so I could stay as far away from Kobe, the Rapist, as possible) It was soo much fun! And reminiscient of The UM/OSU football game, I lost my voice but I didn't yell like crazy as you would expect. (Although I did do some, to be sure) And like at UM football, I contributed to being the largest recorded crowd for a game (UM vs OSU in NCAA, and now Detroit vs LA in NBA) That was exciting.
The only thing I was mad about is that Dad said we had to leave early to beat the traffic. But if there's one thing I've learned from Michigan Hockey (that is to say, the Michigan/ Western game) you NEVER leave a game early!! (Think Mike Brown's fight....) But anyway, we did. And I was mad because What do you know! We missed Darko! Not that I particularly like Darko, but still. I wanted to see him play.
And it was hilarious because Mum is a huge Karl Malone fan so she kept cheering for him and the people in front of us would turn around and look at her like she was crazy (The mailman did NOT deliver last night...even if he did have shiny gold shoes as Mum pointed out)
But the actual game was insane! We went to work and I have to say, I should go to more finals games so we'll do it again! I think we can win this (contrary to my first thoughts, I will be honest) so Let's keep up the amazing work!

But on a sad note, due to impending rain and harsh thunderstorms all day, Cedar Point has been cancelled. Which bums me out because I was really excited about that. So now I have the whole day to do nothing. Well, not nothing as long as Karen keeps her promise....

Exciting!!
So it's wednesday which means the weekend is coming! Tomorrow is the Pistons game and I'm soo excited! (looking back, I've been to a lot of exciting games...)
Anyway, then Friday is Cedar Point and I'm sooo excited! I love that place and it totally means summer is here (although I've been home for like 2 months.)
Saturday I don't have to work so I have it completely free! (maybe we'll rent movies and watch them with the boys? Who knows)

but the Tigers game I want to go to is coming up, so you have to let me know if we're going!

Let's See...
The Pistons blew me away last night! I never thought they'd win game 1 against LA and yet...they did! I'm so excited! But I'm still nervous for the series. Perhaps LA will underestimate them and so we'll win and be champs. (I'm hoping)

So football season is close, but not close enough. I just can't wait! I mean, here's a sad little story for you. I didn't have anything to listen to in the car, so I closed my eyes and grabbed a CD and it was my Michigan CD. So i put it in and listend to the Victors March and it totally pumped me up. Is that sad? Or is that good that I'm more of a Wolverine now? Who knows! But I want it to be football season NOW!

Hockey draws to a close tonight. Tampa Bay (and Martin St. Louis) tied up the series and so it's a show down tonight at Tampa Bay. Game 7 vs Calgary and everything is on the line. This should be an exciting game, I'd recommend not missing it!

HAHA, notice how all I have to say is about sports right now? That's because it's really the only thing worth talking about thats going on right now. Well, actually, that's not true. But I'd rather not talk about the other things because I'm trying to forget. (It's really hard too.)

Ok, can't think of anything else to say except this weekend is a busy one! Thursday is the Pistons game, Friday is Cedar Point (hopefully it's a beautiful day!), Saturday the Tigers play the Marlins (be prepared to cry, Eddie!) and Sunday is the baby shower. Normally I would not be excited about the baby shower because its such a girly thing and I hate kids, but Nick and Alison are going to have the coolest baby ever. (which is probably because I got him a little Tigers outfit. It's soo cute!) So that's all for now.

oh! Expect Press Conference notes sometime around Thursday or Friday.

OH MY GOD
Karen's Party was sooo much fun! If you didn't go, you really missed out! (Although, I heard the bonfire was a success too...) Anyway, I would go into details, but I don't really feel like doing it on here. So if you're really that curious, just ask. I'm sure I'll tell you!

So what else...(I'm really tired since I got like no sleep and had to work at 2-10 today) so, the Tigers won today 6-0. Great game! Watching Hockey right now, it's tied in the third period. Go Tampa Bay! Badds is dead last at the memorial. Not so good but at least he made cuts? I think he just needs me to play with him. Apparently I'm good luck? Lastly, we got Pistons tickets for Thursday! So instead of going to work, I'll be GOIN' TO WORK and I'm sooo excited!

But that's all. Karen's party was a blast, and I love my girls more than anything in the whole world (always looking out for me and I love them for it!) Give me a few days and I could have some press conference notes...

Sorry!
It's not that I haven't had anything to write about, it's just that it's been busy planning Karen's party! And my parents are seriously so cool right now because I told them about it and they said everything was cool. (my mum said, I don't want to know what you're doing. Just remember, you're responsible for whatever happens.) So that was really exciting.

Sports news is obvious. May was a bad month for the Tigers. But they did pull it out for Memorial Day and gave Dimitri Young a proper welcome back. Pistons are still goin' to work, and hopefully playing LA in the Finals. Tampa Bay is holding on, although I have to commend them since Calgary is a bunch of cheaters...(Did you see that hit in the third period last night? Cheap shot if I ever saw one.) Not sure if Badds is golfing this week, have to check on that. But I have been to the driving range and I have to admit, I'm getting a little better. Michigan baseball is done, and Texas did not win the Big 12 championship. (haven't checked on those Canes. But I'm sure they did well since they are such a baseball-y school.)

What else is there to say? I have a budha on my desk from Hong Kong that Dad brought home. There's an elephant in the garden to protect the Republican Roses...Winston Churchill has become my little shadow (I love him soo much!) and that's really all there is to tell.

FRIDAY is going to be AMAZING! And I really suggest you all come. And if you receive a PERSONAL invitation, then you really HAVE to come because we only personally invite the people we really really really want to be there.

Crazy Times
Ok so first and foremost, you have to read Karen's post for the last entry because it's hilarious! (Ok for all you lazy people, it says "I LOVE U of M BASEBALL!) Of course, they did lose really bad to Minnesota last night, but they're not going home just yet. They play Ohio State and hopefully Minnesota again. We'll see how that goes.

So, now for the fun part. So me and Karen went out last night to cause some trouble. First, we almost go North on 1-75...oops! But luckily we figured it out and headed south. Then, Karen took the Bridge instead of the tunnel, although I didn't know she wanted to take the tunnel. I just figured she wanted to take the bridge. That was my fault. So we get there and walk around the casino for a while but we were too scared to gamble any money. Even though Karen said her palms were itching today and that meant she was going to win money.
After walking around a little bit, we decide to visit Dave at the Treehouse. So we did and the place is pretty crowded. But! Dave saw us and he was so happy to see Karen. (soo exciting) and of course he bought us something to drink because he's nice like that. And he told the bartender, Tracey, to take good care of us. Ok, so then this one guy comes up to us and introduces himself as Scott. Me and Karen look at each other and say "don't think so." Too many Scotts in her life right now. (you have to realize the name is very important.) Oh, and then this really creepy guy like takes Karen aside and tells her that they should hook up and he gives her his number and he's like "call me. Bring your girls. We'll hook up." Umm...I don't think so. We gracefully get away from him only to be approached by another set of guys from Cleveland. They were nice except the one guy looked like Meagan's ex-boyfriend Jeremy a LOT and that was really freaky. (especially after the last Canada trip!) Anyway, one of his friends was wearing a pink moose shirt so obviously we had to talk to him. They were fun but they left to go to a different bar, so we said goodbye. But we are grateful to them for saving us from these two really creepy guys who were, well, really creepy!!
Then we see this really cute guy walk in wearing a Tigers hat and I swear he looks like he plays baseball or something and me and Karen are in love. But then this witchy girl turns out to be with him and we decide it's better not to have some fun with him, even if he is really cute. But it's ok! In the meantime, we meet Jim (who was also wearing a Tigers hat) and he was soo nice. He goes to school at UMiss (and I have to say I was out of it, when he said he lived in Jackson, Mississippi I actually asked where he went to school and he looked at me like I was crazy. Sorry!) Anyway, he was so nice and then he walked away and we were by ourselves again (pretty much in the same place we always are...) and he comes back with his friend Tim. Tim plays hockey and me and Karen laughed and were excited. So we were talking to them and Jim says "we need to buy these two ladies a drink" but they don't take credit cards so they had to search for canadian money. When we offered to pay they got really mad and said "that's not how southerners do things. It's all about Southern Hospitality. Girls never buy guys drinks." So we had to back down but they were so cute!
So we talked to them for the rest of the evening, but then we had to get home (although I was about 5 minutes late, I didn't get yelled at...yet.) So we said goodbye and they were so sweet and we walked back to the car. Karen thought maybe Jim was her soulmate and she was mad that we didn't get phone numbers even though they live so far away. But then again, Karen and Jim? That doesn't really work too well. Even though he was a sweetie. Oh, and he doesn't play baseball. So we get to customs and the line is soo long, we're like what the hell? There's a lot of strange people, including the sunbird next to us with the guys who were un-friendly in the elevator at the casino. Anyway, it's almost our turn when this guy rolls down his window and starts yelling at me.
"Where you from?"
"Troy and Rochester Hills. Where are you from?"
"Chesterfield."
I turn to Karen. Who do we know in Chesterfield? (we know someone, I swear.) She says we had a cheerleading competition there.
So he tells us to go hang out with him and we're like "we have to get home." But he looks really familiar. I say, wait. remember that Nick kid? didn't he live in Chesterfield? so Karen says "What's your name?"
"Nick." We almost die laughing because that was Shannon's stalker friend who called her like EVERYDAY for two weeks! So we take down his number to see if it's him and say we'll call him when we get through customs.
Then we drive home.

What a successfully fun night! Can't wait for next week!

SUCCESS!!
Ok, so thanks to Ryan's wonderful advice, I didn't have to break down and do something I wasn't supposed to do. Instead, we used other means to get what we needed...and it worked! So now we're really excited and already planning Karen's huge birthday bash (which will hopefully be held next weekend) We'll give you more details once we figure out what's going on. But realize, it's gonna be HOTT! You're definitely going to want to go!

In other news...Badds has the week off so he won't be playing in the St. Jude's Classic. Tigers had an amazing victory today (Robertson pitched) 17-7 over Kansas City. Michigan baseball is currently killing OSU (10-1) and it's only the second inning. They had to pull their pitcher! Hilarious. Anyway, Pistons went to work last night and we're hoping for another win at the Palace, although I doubt Indiana will let them have three in a row. But you never know. Um, there are like 69 more days until Football season...World Cup hockey is at the end of August (rooting for Team Sweden, even if it is un-American) and that's about all I have to say at the moment.

Curious...
So I was at work today and they kept asking me why I wasn't very talkative today. I hadn't noticed that I wasn't. Then I realized that I wasn't in a very good mood. It was even hard for me to fake being nice to the customers. So I was thinking, why aren't I as chipper as usual? Especially since I finally got to see a michigan baseball game. You'd think I would have been overly estatic. I mean, I was literally bubbling yesterday to the point where my face hurt from smiling (and laughing) so much.

Then it hit me. I should never have gone to the game. Because when I got home, I got to thinking and you know when I get to thinking it always turns out bad. And it turned out bad this time, just as always. And to make matters worse, my mum says to me: "you know, you didn't have to leave early because of the rain. But since you didn't have anywhere to go, I told you you should. If you had had someplace to go, you could have stayed." HELLOO MOTHER! Do I not have friends who live in Ann Arbor all year round? That really made me mad. But of course, that wasn't what really got me down.

I just hate being confused because it throws off everything. I mean everything. Because then I have to wonder...how come? Why not? Then, I have to fix the reasons I come up with to answer those questions (even though most of the time, the reasons aren't true) so then I get into an even bigger mess that I was in before.

Why can't it be football season so I wouldn't have this problem?!?!

WHAT A DAY!
Well, it did rain. And because of the rain, we couldn't stay till the end of the second game, but we did see the first one and it was great! (aside from the scary guy who was trying to pick us up. We're sitting there, staring at the boys on our team...Michigan's got some hot baseball players, let me tell you!...and this guy sits down next to Karen and starts talking to her and he would not leave us alone!

Here's a little hint...Do not try to pick me up while I'm watching sports. did it work for the boys in Canada when I was watching the Pistons game at the Casino? NO! Did it work for the boy at Tiki Bob's when the Wings were on? No. Did it work for creepy Jesse when we were at the Treehouse and golf highlights were on? NO! (although, it could have worked for others in the hotel room when we watched sportscenter...) But in general, you will not get my attention, you will only make me mad! Yes, I'm a girl but that doesn't mean I don't want to know what's going on! And PLEASE don't try to talk sports with me if you don't know what the hell you are talking about!! It's so annoying to have people think I'm an idiot and don't know anything because I'm a girl when really, you're the idiot because you don't know what the hell you're talking about (especially about hockey or football...) Ok, enough of that.

Anyway, We're trying so hard to get him to go away, and finally he leaves. Oh it was bad! But we survived that escapade. The game ended and Michigan won, 5-1. We left between the games to get some food (Mr. Greeks) and then I stopped in the old store to say hi. Oh how I miss it right now! Then we went back to the game (scared we missed it but it was only the second inning) But we get back and we go into the stands, only to see the scary stalker guy so Karen is like "we have to go. NOW!" so we leave the stands and stand by the fence for a while...(bad position. VERY bad place to be standing) but then we decide, you know what? We just won't talk to him. So we go back to the stands, hoping he's not looking at us and sit to watch the rest of the game. That's when we notice fan club #2 and fan club #3. One on the left side and one on the right. Now, we could be totally wrong. They could have been looking at something else and not us, but I'm pretty sure it was us. There was nothing else around us to look at. Anyway, we had to some fun with that, although at times we didn't know where to look. Then, to make me happy (not really but a girl can dream) they put in a LEFT-HANDED PITCHER! I was so excited. And he did great too. I think all left handed pitchers are great. Not all of them are really hot, but they're all great. But, despite having to leave early because bad weather was threatening and I had to listen to mum for a change, we definitely enjoyed the game. And I'm so glad we went. Only regrets? Not talking to fan clubs. But that couldn't be helped because due to threatening weather and an hour drive, we couldn't stay. It wasn't safe.

Driving home in the rain was an adventure. Especially when the lightning practically hit the car. that was really scary. But we survived and Karen is the BEST for coming with me because I never would have gone alone. And it was so much fun, definitely worth it. But it was the last one till next year, so that's pretty sad. But you know I'll be there next year. I've become a serious fan. (who knew? I'm hooked!)

Some memorable quotes:

"See? His hands would fit perfectly with mine!" ~Karen commenting on her boyfriend

"I'm very observant. I noticed the things on his arms."~Karen, again commenting on her boyfriend because she recognized his hands from the dugout.

"You can sit here" ~fan club #1 when we were trying to find a place out of the rain. (we would have just gotten wet but we were both in white shirts...)

"Where's his girlfriend?"
"Karen, I think that's his mom."
"But where's his girlfriend?"
"Maybe she isn't supportive of his baseball talent."
"Ooo, I'll be supportive!"
~discussing her boyfriend in between at-bats.

"They're not staring at me. they're not staring at you! They're staring at your boobs!"
"But you can't see them unless I lean forward! Maybe they're staring at your boobs. You're the one in the special cleavage bra."
"No, you can't see them unless you look down. I like to look down at my cleavage. It makes me proud."
~discussing why the two fan clubs (#2, #3) kept staring at us.

"Ooo, that one is married! Oh wait, that's the manager, nevermind."~Karen checking out the hands peeking over the dugout.

"Foul ball. Go run and get it kids! Wow, if I miraculously had kids, that would be a great way to get rid of them."~ Me watching some kids chase after a foul ball while we were trying to be unseen by the scary stalker guy.

"My arm is numb."~ Karen after I was squeezing her arm really hard because Clayton Richard came back...with hockey boys in tow. But no, not the ones we wanted to see.

"What's that thing they have on the bat?"
"I don't know. Maybe it's so they know where to hit the ball."
~trying to figure out why the boys practicing before batting had the rubber thing on their bats. Thanks to Walter's profound baseball knowledge, we know what it is and why it's there.

"Ok, so I know there's two foul balls that equal strikes. But I don't think you can strike out on foul balls. But can you just keep going?"
"I think there's like a seven foul ball limit."
~trying to figure out baseball without the help of a baseball player. Again, thanks to Walter, we know the answer.

"That would be a cool slip and slide. Look at all the water!"
~The boys were taking the tarp off the field after the heavy downpour.

"Don't be stupid! Just because you want to go to a stupid baseball game. You're too far away from home with this bad weather."
~My mum yelling at me as we're driving to the game.

"Maybe that's the reason why he hasn't called."~ Me and Karen watching two boys be buddy buddy, yet again.

"What would they do if you said, Excuse me, could you sign my thong?"~ Me commenting after a mob of kids ran to the dugout to get autographs.

"Are they pouring beer onto their grill?"
"That's why they call it beer-battered."
~Walking down State Street and watching two frat boys grill on their porch.

that's all for now! I think this day lived up to all it's built up excitement. Oh, except we couldn't find Mike's number and Tim's number so we couldn't call them. That was kind of a bummer, but we're still working on that.
