My Weight Loss Journal

FEBRUARY 2001

FEBRUARY 1, 2001 Today I am starting this journal; so that you and I may take a look at what I am doing to change my life--to become the healthier, slimmer me! I think that looking back at what I am doing will help me see why I am (or am not) reaching my weight loss goals. Right now, I am discouraged at how LONG I have failed to get in shape. Now, with God's help!, I am going to just do it! :) My big goal is to lose 1-2 lbs per week between now and the end of this year. To accomplish this, my goals are to eat low carb breakfast and lunch and a balanced dinner (The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet) and to exercise 3x a week for 1 hour. Next month I plan to move it up to 5x a week for at least one hour. In addition, I plan to drink the 8 glasses of water a day. :) Please feel free to give me any weight loss advice, especially when you read this journal and see ways that I can improve to meet my goals. :) Thanks! :)

FEB. 8, 2001 I am already feeling how great it is to get on the ball! :) It's only been a week, so not much progress, but any progress is great! :) I'm walking the treadmill (or outdoors) on Mon, Wed & Friday and before that I do 12 minutes of light exercise to warm up. I still haven't perfected the way of eating, but I'm getting it. I am drinking lots of water but still need to drink more. I don't drink as much soda with dinner-nor do I want it as much. Wow! I got 2 waterbottles, and that really helped. I keep one in the fridge and take the other with me. So no more excuses for this gal! Ha ha! I read an article saying we need to drink half our weight in water (in oz). So if you weigh 100 lbs, you need 50 oz water a day. (So I need to drink LOTS of it!) It also said that allows for more salt in the diet, which is great because I like salt. :) There's one perk for drinking more water. ;) I haven't weighed again. I'm going to see how it works if I weigh at the beginning of each month. I think the weight loss will be more encouraging that way-at least in the beginning. We'll see if I can wait that long. ;) Thank you friend for reading this, and please tell me how you are doing.

FEB. 16, 2001 The past 2 days have been the best so far! I've follewed my diet to the "T" and without struggle! :) It's been 2 full weeks now; so it's about time! :) I feel so much better. I am especially excited that I drank a diet coke the other day, and it tasted awful! I have loved that drink for years! The past 2 days, all I've had to drink is water, and I think that is what's making the difference. I feel better and that adds excitement & makes me want to stay on track. :) I feel like I've finally gotten it, it's clicked, and I am going to be able to get used to this way of eating and getting into loving exercise. It is still a chore to get started with the exercise, but once I do, I actually do enjoy it and feel so invigorated! I have to keep that thought for times when I just don't seem to find the motivation. I can't wait to see the scales in just 2 weeks, but I am going to wait.

FEBRUARY 23, 2001 This is a miracle! It has been 9 days since I started following my diet w/o fail, and I think it is already becoming a habit. I don't have to think about it too much. I thank GOD for that! :) I am eating a bit much of dessert with dinner, but last night that finally started subsiding, phew! I'm glad of that. I guess I finally got my fill of sweet treats, and I finally got it in my head that I can have dessert every night; so I don't need to overdo it all at once. :) I am still doing well drinking water, but I'd like to be drinking more. I've been drinking b/w 64-96oz a day, and that upper range is the least I should have. The amazing thing is when I'm thirsty, I go straight for the water. I poured out my diet coke since it is now distasteful. (That still amazes me. I tasted some last night just to make sure I really don't like it anymore! Ew!) My downfall is in the exercise that I have not been doing. So now I need to get that going and I'll be on cloud 9! My next entry will probably be on March 1st; so follow the link below to get there. On March 1st I will weigh & see what weight I lost in February! :)
