Hamilton, Ohio has been a significant railroad center for over 100 years. In the past it has been the home of two locomotive manufacturers (Hamilton Engine - Later Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton - and Mid-West Locomotive) as well as several railroad supply firms. Today, it is served by CSX and Norfolk Southern, as well as Amtrak and the Great Miami. Hamilton offers the railfan the variety of major Class 1 railroading or slow, shortline operations within a few miles of one another. Hamilton is also close to other railfan hotspots and points of interest.
