I've been searching for information regarding this fish and all I know is that it's a Aplochelius Kirchmayeri or Goa Killie.
Kwek Leong gave me this unassuming trio of 1 male/2 females, which were hand carried all the way from India.
Thanks Madan! These little jewels are really nice! It
would be great if there were more details on the natural biotope from which
they came (from Goa??).
This is a wild caught specimen that doesn't show itself well in
a bright tank.
It's shy and hardly venture off the higher level of the tank. The iridescent patterns are striking when set with a dim or dark
background, and the little lights remind one of the Stellar Milky Way.

The female Goa Killie is smaller and has less iridescent spots.
In fright, she's a real 'plain Jane'. Aplochelius Kirchmayeri, female

These peaceful fishes should feel most comfortable in a densely planted tank with calmer tankmates. Now... where did the two girls go?
If you have any information regarding these lesser known killies, I'd really appreciate it if you could email me. |
Most killies are jumpers and this female from the panchax family is no exception. A stiff and coarse green netting covers the entire tank. |
Besides these Gao Killies, I recieved a 'quartet' of Aplochelius
Panchax (Blue Panchax)
and a trio of Badis
buchanani (Blue badis badis). Cool blues...
