Lich

The UnDying

Requirements

Description: These undead spellcasters used to be powerful mages in life. They then chose to life forever and created a potion that would let them continue on as Liches. Most of these mages were highly self-serving in life and had no compunctions against hurting others to attain their goals. As such, they have grown not only in power and spellcraft, but also in their evil.

Roleplaying Notes: Remember that the lich is more often than not an ancient creature. They normally recluse themselve from society after their death, often speaking and acting in a manner of a past era. After death, the goal of the lich is gathering more and more knowledge for themselves and guarding it. Also, since the phylactery is the source of the liches continued undead existence it is always placed in a hidden and secure place. This place must be stated in the characters roster description.

Powers

  1. Fear Aura - SC Roll and if fail their SD is @ 1/2. The victims can roll SC in the proceeding rounds to attempt to throw off the fear. The aura is in a 60 foot radius and is permeated with a feeling of death and evil.
  2. Paralyzing Touch - The chilling touch of the lich can cause paralysis. Target must be touched, and can roll SC to avoid effect. If failed, will be paralysed for 1 round/5 levels of the Lich.
  3. Immune to poison, diseases, fear, energy drain, mind-influencing effects (like charm),  death effects, paralysis, stunning,  cold, electricity, polymorph, and sleep.
  4. A Lich has 4 EP per level to use in fueling its powers (mystery and mage spells).
  5. Can regain Essence points by draining it from a living target with a successful attack. For each hit, the lich drains 1 EP, which causes the target to be -5 to their SD for a duration of one hour (max). Each additional hit will continue to drain 1 EP and penalize for -5 to SD. The hour countdown begins from the last successful Essence drain. The Maximum SD that can be penalized is -25 to SD and so a total of 5 EP can be drained from one target.
  6. Has access to one mystery (or dark mystery) on level one, and another at level 8.
  7. Has one action at level 1 and another at level 10.
  8. Has +1 to damage at levels 1, 4, 8, 12,16, and 20.
  9. Can heal itself by spending 1 EP which heals 3 DP of damage.
  10. Liches are resistant to damage to their body, and such strikes deal -15 vs damage. Note that a +1 magic weapon (or better) will overcome this damage reduction.
  11. When in their Lich  physical form, they are capable of casting Mage spells as if they were a mage of their 1/2 the same level (so a level 10 Lich can cast ANY 5th level spells). Their energy used to power is their EP instead of SP.
  12. When the Lich gets its physical body destroyed, it can rebuilt it again while its spirit stays in the ethereal plane to recuperate. The Lich will get its body rebuilt in one mun day for every level he has.
  13. Has darkvision at a range of 60 feet.
