The main house and yard at Finca del
Pacuare

Floor plans and three dimensional views of the main house

Although not a large home it is more than sufficient and includes
many nice built in features normally not available in local houses. Including
some of the furniture in the sale of the property could be negotiated.

Finca del Pacuare is located about halfway between Turrialba and
Siquirres on the “Old” road from San José to Limón. We are about a half-mile
south of Tres Equis just off of the San Martín road. Finca del Pacuare is
situated at the edge of the rainforest on the Rio Pacuare, one of the world’s
favorite white water rafting locations. The last 100 meters to the farm may
require 4-wheel drive during some times of the year,
Topography of Finca del Pacuare:
The
altitude of the farm varies from 320 meters at the Rio Pacuare to 660 meters at
its highest point. The main house is situated at 640 meters and is just 100
meters from the localad. Lots of hills and forest provide exquisite vistas
throughout the farm. A map of the finca and Google Earth images are available
on out Farms Website which is linked below.
The
view from the house is spectacular, consisting mostly of uncorrupted
rainforest. Several streams and waterfalls grace the farm and are relatively
accessible, although not viewable from within either house. A good portion of
the farm may be seen via 4x4 but access to the river is either on foot or by
horseback. To walk to and from the river requires a considerable amount of
fitness and one should be used to such demanding excursions, as the altitude
variation is about 1000 feet.

Current use of Finca del Pacuare:
Although
the current use is limited to the below items, the potential exists for
extensive ecotourism involvement and the property should be visited to evaluate
this possibility and to experience the abundance of first and second growth
forest that would enhance this potential.
Finca
del Pacuare is a multi-use facility, currently for bovine and equine husbandry,
with about 70% of the land in either pasture or pasture and mixed forest. The
cattle raised are the local variety of mixed Brahma, and horses are raised for
work and pleasure. Including stock in the sale of the property could be
negotiated at current market prices should the new owners prefer to continue
this use of the property.
There
is an abundance of fruit, which mostly grows naturally including three types of
banana, papaya, guanabana, cas, guaybo, limons and limes. Christmas Trees are
cultivated in a small quantity for sale in late November and early December.
There are also some hardwoods that may be selectively harvested but have been
generally protected by the current owners.

stallions (born on the property) and a guest riding one of our horses
A
ride through the jungle on horseback is an enlightening and exhilarating
experience. We currently have five horses broken for work and pleasure but
sometimes it isn’t best to mix the mares with the stallions. We also have a
very nice gelding that requires an expert rider.
The
potential exists of providing facilities along the river as a stopping point
for the rafters or for providing cabins for discerning visitors who wish a
unique, basic experience beside the river. The beach area is relatively flat
with the rapids above and below this location, providing for a more tranquil
experience.
You
may visit Finca del Pacuare whenever you wish as the owners are usually in
residence. There is also a full time farm worker who lives on the farm and
English, German and Spanish are spoken when all are in residence.
It
is very rare that a visitor would find no one at home but it is best to contact
us prior to your visit to insure that
someone will be there to serve you.
