Since art is only my second love (after writing), I tend more towards fanart and illustrations than pure artsy experimentation. Still, I do have one strange artist-habit -- call it my default setting, my equivalent of a nervous tic, whatever -- which is that I can't help but draw hands constantly. I love hands. There's just something beautifully graceful and expressive about them... I can't explain it.
So here are all my drawings of hands. Most of them are repeated from other galleries, but I just felt that my little hand fetish should get a display case all of its own. ^_^.
Finished Pieces
Irony • Vash the Stampede. On a purely nitpicky, I-could-kick-myself-for-being-so-absent-minded level, this picture irritates me because it's the wrong dang hand! His left hand is actually mechanical -- it's his right hand that's all scarred up. *bangs head on desk* Where was my brain that day?
Articles of Faith • Nightcrawler, the X-Men movie version, complete with scarrification. His thumb is horribly wrong (the thumb connects to the heel of the hand a LOT further up than that, it's not level with the fingers) but I didn't really notice that until this picture was finished and colored. *shrug* I still like his tail and the rosary.
Stretch • I like to warm up by drawing my hand in different poses. This is one of the better ones. The shadows are screwy. *sigh*
Badge #177 • In my favorite scene in Terry Pratchett's Men At Arms involves the main character getting very drunk and clutching his policeman's badge so hard that it cuts into his hand. It's a very emotional scene, and it fit perfectly with my thing about hands, so... viola.
Green Bird • First-person view of Spike falling from the cathedral window in Session #5 of Cowboy Bebop. This begged to be drawn. The brickwork nearly killed me. Computer coloring pending.
Claws • Wolverine's hands, claws and all! I was on an X-Men binge and, as usual, drawing my hands for fun. So, y'know, stick the claws on and ta-da, you've got Wolvie.
Sketches and Concepts
Hairspray Must Die • Sesshoumaru's fighting stance. Yeah, we had to sing pieces from the musical "Hairspray" in Chorus and I ended up drawing the Inuyasha characters taking extreme exception to that accursed music. *hacks Hairspray into little pieces with Tensaiga* >_<.
Angel Blade Sketch • Millions Knives. Concept sketch of his favored weapon, the Angel Blade -- his hand and arm (and really most of his body, but that's not as often) can transform into a giant, twisted blade. This drawing sucks, but what the hell.
