Community Service Croatian Junior Tamburitzans - This organization is for children who want to continue the customs and traditions of the Croatian people. The children learn to play traditional Croatian stringed instruments, songs, and dances. They perform for many organizations around this area, as well as participate in July in a large Festival. Some of our Festivals have been held in Florida, Michigan, Canada, Croatia, and Pennsylvania. I helped this organization by participating in fundraisers and helping to sew and fit costumes. One-on-One tutoring with a child - For six to eight weeks, I helped a child with his reading difficulties. I listened when he read-aloud a book chosen by his teacher and offered support when he needed it. The teacher commented to me that she noticed a significant improvement in his reading scores. Computer Assistant - At a local school, I assisted in the computer lab with several students. Hobart Little League - I was team mom, as well as a volunteer in the concession stand from 1998 - 2000. For the 2003 season, I am part of the Women's Auxiliary that will manage and maintain the concession stand. In addition, I have volunteered to manage my youngest son's T-ball team. |
