Common name: Great Blue Mime.
Latin name: Chilasa paradoxa aenigma. Wingspan: about 1012cm. Range: north India to Sundaland. Habitat: open forest. Food plant: (Cinnamomum?). Note: The Great Blue Mime is a mimic of a danaid species, possibly Euploea mulciber. Despite its elaborate disguise, this butterfly gave itself away by drinking at a seepage (the puddling habit), something that is not usually done by danaid species. |
