The caterpillars of the Plain Tiger
grow quickly and develop. This picture shows a fully grown caterpillar that is about to pupate, a pupating caterpillar
and a pupa or chrysalis. When a caterpillar is about to pupate, it wanders around the food
plant and stops only when it has found a suitable or safe spot, usually under a firm twig or even
a leaf.
