After emerging, the adult Common Rose (Pachliopta aristolochiae
asteris) does not cling onto the pupa case but climbs higher and grips the
twig or branch supporting the pupa case. I think this is to get its wings clear
of any obstruction so that it can dry out and expand its wings without damaging them.
