Cartomancy - Reading with playing cards

Many people use a standard deck of 52 playing cards to tell the future. This is especially so with those that where taught by a grandmother. I personally have yet to try this - however, it is something I am eager to learn as well. I have included this information because I know many like myself - who would like to learn.

With playing cards you will read them in only 1 direction - face up. This is different from Tarot Cards - so keep this in mind.

However after looking over this basic information – it is very similar to Tarot Cards. You may want to memorize these so you can use this basic information for both.

To read playing cards you shuffle them as you normally would shuffle a playing deck. While shuffling – think about the person you are reading, and focus on their question. When you feel you are done shuffling the deck – place the deck on the table. Either you or the person you are reading is to cut the deck. Use you left hand to cut the deck and place the remaining cards on top of the new pile.

The Client Card This is a king or a queen card selected by you that best represents the person you are reading. Try to select the card that best matches the person’s age, sex, and hair color. Do this the best you can – clearly nothing is exact.

Hearts - Domestic Life - love, affection, friendship, marriage, the family. Hearts also stand for ambitions successfully realized and are considered lucky. This is also related to cups in Tarot Cards

Clubs - Success - with money, business and loyalty; failure, betrayal, and financial worries. This is also related to swords in Tarot Cards

Diamonds - Life outside the home. They also suggest that ambitions can only be realized and money made through hard work. This is also related to pentacles in Tarot Cards

Spades - Misfortune - loss, suffering, enemies, treachery, failure. They warn of dangers ahead. This is also related to wands in Tarot Cards

Special Combinations to be aware of

As far as layouts – I have yet to find layouts for this. I would recommend doing a straight line of 5 or 10 cards. When I have more information on this – I will of coarse include it.
