THE BACHELOR VI 11/04/04

Q. What happened between Byron and Cheresse?

A. I never saw them developing any romantic feelings for each other. Their relationship reached a plateau and just fizzled away. These things happen, there just isn't anything that bonds them together. Don't feel bad, though, Cheresse was not attracted to our boy, and possibly felt out of place among most of the other women. I personally feel her special type of beauty was the only thing that got her into the show; she is actually not reality TV show material.

Q. Don't you think there may be something between Byron and Cynthia?

A. No, I just don't see that magic "spark" in Byron's eyes whenever he is with her. Her sense of timing was awful, in my opinion, when she brought up Byron's ex-wife during their limo ride. My Lord, where was her common sense? I prefer to believe Cynthia was put up to it by one of the producers, for I cannot envision someone being so blind. She definitely killed whatever magic there was between them at the moment! Anyway, I believe Byron only finds Cynthia physically attractive, and probably would love to have met her under different circumstances. I still feel she will be the one going home next week.

Q. What's your opinion of Byron?

A. I am getting the feeling Byron still harbors a certain amount of internal anger against his ex-wife, for whatever reason, even if both may give the impression of having handled the divorced wonderfully. This does not mean he is not able to leave the experience behind and move on, but the fact he still becomes so shaken, whenever she is mentioned, is significant.
Other than that, I am of the opinion he is trying to be as sincere and honest, in this process, as possible. I would even say Byron is a breath of fresh air, especially after experiencing Jessie, who was not ready to do this type of show, or Bob, whose main reasons for accepting the role was self-promotion and to enjoy having a "personal harem" for several weeks.

Q. Don't you think there is something there between Byron and Tanya?

A. Maybe in another time and another place, but not on this show.

Q. So it is going to be Mary.

A. I could be totally wrong, since we all know how ABC loves to manipulate scenes, but if I only go by observing their body language, especially Byron's sparkling eyes whenever he looks at her, I still say Mary is going all the way this time. One thing I will add; both Mary and Byron have several key issues to work on, after the show ends, if they wish to continue their romantic relationship. Both have a good chance of making it, but it is not going to be an easy road.

Q. What do you mean by that?

A. That is for us to discuss at another time.
