The Bachelor V 04/08/04
By Wendy Thompson

Q. What did you think about Jesse on the premier?

A. Actually, my first impression of him was very positive. He is not only handsome, but has that wicked smile most women find fascinating. I believe this is going to be a really interesting series, unless Jesse does or says something to fall out of grace with the female viewers.

Q. Do you really believe he is actually serious about finding someone?

A. Let's say I believe he was being truthful when he stated his reasons for being on the show. It is practically impossible to know someone by watching them on a few segments of a TV show; but I feel Jesse is the type of person who tells the truth no matter what may be the consequences.

Q. What an embarrassing situation with the last rose! Do you think he did the right thing?

A. The way he handled that situation said a lot about his personality and personal beliefs. It would have been easier to request an extra rose for Karen and stretch Katie out for another week, without explaining what had happened. Instead, he bit the bullet and faced the music on national TV, not an easy thing to do by any standards. He is my type of guy and gained my respect with that gesture, even if, in fact, he ends up actually sending Katie home in the next week or two.

Q. What about the "spy"? Who do you think it is?

A. I honestly do not know, nor do I believe it to be too important in the scheme of things. She may be able to inform Jesse of conversations and comments spoken by the women, but I honestly do not believe anyone is actually going to confess to her that they have a hidden agenda. At least Jesse may be able to know what the women's actual opinion of him is.

Q. Talk to me about the women.

A. As in all first episodes, it is easier for me to guess who is possibly not going all the way, like Jean Marie, Julie, Jenny, Celeste, and of course, Katie and Trish. I may be wrong here, after all this is just the first week, but Trish will probably turn out to be the one everyone loves to hate, and may go far, but I do not believe she will end up being "Jesse's girl". I also believe Anne-Catherine may go far but, for the moment, I do not believe she may be "the one".

Q. Any ones you see as possible favorites?

A. I will have a better opinion of the other women's chances after I see Jesse interacting with them in next week's episode. One thing for certain: if our boy does not pull a "Bobby" and begins lip-locking his way through every single woman, or sends his chosen one to the "end zone" right after the last segment airs (sorry, I had to say that), he has all the ingredients to turn out being the most popular Bachelor yet.
