The Bachelor 4

Q. Well, it was Mary who went home after all!

A. As much as Bob liked Mary, and I believe he really felt attracted to her, he realized she was at a more advance stage in her life than he was. Like Meredith, I also feel this wonderful person came out benefiting from being sent home. One thing is to be with Bob in the idyllic settings created for filming the show, another very different one is life with Bob afterwards. I believe Mary is searching for a type of husband Bob is not able to be, and she would not be happy with their relationship in the long run. I wish “que verdaderamente encuentre la felicidad que esta buscando” (for her to really find the happiness she is searching for).

Q. Once again we find ourselves watching two completely different finalists. I know you explained the possible reason for this some time ago. Could you indulge us and explain again why this is so?

A. There may be a plausible reason for this, and I will try to explain it briefly.
I believe all of us experience a conflict within ourselves whenever we make difficult decisions in our lives. I believe one side of us is attracted to what I will call our “adventurous” side, while the other will be called our “conservative” one. It s pretty much a loose variation of the Chinese concept of “Yin and Yang.”
Placing this theory into perspective, we are attracted, on the one hand, to someone we would like to be passionate and adventurous with, without complicating ourselves with too many details or responsibilities. On the other hand we rationalize our long-term goals, choosing someone based on logic and common sense. This person is generally perceived as being ideally the best candidate for our short AND long-term aspirations.
This does not mean we can’t feel “love” for both, but the reasons for the attraction are different. Our final choice is based on which side of us wins when it is time to make a decision. By the way, this conflict within ourselves sometimes continues to manifest itself long after we made our decision, especially if we begin experiencing problems within the relationship.

Q. let’s talk about the two finalist. Begin with Kelly.

A. I believe Bob not only finds Kelly Joe physically attractive, but also likes her playfulness, adventurous and carefree personality. She does not pressure him into uncomfortable situations, and practically feels comfortable with whatever Bob dictates. Even though she is only 24, Kelly acts very maturely, and is self-assured. I really like her, and she is one of those persons who definitely stand out in a crowd.
The problem I see is she may be the best one for Bob at this time in his life, but I somehow do not see them fulfilling each other’s needs ten or fifteen years into the future.

Q. What about Estella?

A. Estella is completely different than Kelly Joe. She has a pleasant personality and is very pretty, in my opinion. She is also well established in her career, and appears to be very successful at being a Mortgage Broker, which also coincides with Bob’s profession. There is something about Estella which worries me a little, I somehow feel she has issues with her self-esteem. I may be totally wrong but feel she has had very bad experiences in past relationships. I am also inquisitive about the events surrounding her decision to leave her home, and family, at the tender age of fifteen. Sometimes the events surrounding this type of experience causes scars that will manifest themselves in the person’s personality well after they have become adults.

Q. Talk to me about Bob.

A. I believe Bob behaved well with all three women in yesterday’s episode. He appeared to open up a little more and did have meaningful conversations with them. I somehow believe Bob communicates better in a group setting than when he is having an intimate conversation with someone. I could see his loss for words several times last night, while he was trying to express his inner feelings and thoughts. I feel he could have given Mary a more compassionate answer than a version of “it’s none of your business” when she asked about his interactions with the other women on their overnight dates.

Q. Any predictions as to which one he will choose in the end?

A. My mind is pretty much made up, nevertheless I will be in a better position to give a prediction on whom will be Bob’s final choice after the women visit his family. I am looking forward to hearing his mother’s opinion on the two remaining women, since I feel Bob regards her opinion highly.

Q. Next week is the Reunion Special, I know you were looking forward to this episode.

A. It should be interesting, I hope the producers did not edit it to death and we get to see what really transpired.
