Rude & Despicable Bank Employees

At a HSBC branch #717 located at 265 Broadway, between Chambers & Warren Street at the City Hall area of New York 10007, where I once was a banking customer. This branch was occupied by four managers and seven bank tellers when I last banked there.  It seems that when you walk into this branch, you are often greeted with that "I don't want to serve you" look by some rude and nasty bank tellers; they even make other professional bank employees look bad   and they treat particular customers rudely and think nothing of it; as if they had a bad morning or something.

It's like you cannot go into this branch for service without receiving uncomfortable stares. However, there are few tellers who I find to be polite and professional when customers are greeted by them.  Such ill-mannered employees there, seem to forget that customers who bank at their branch pays their salary and not vice-versa. There has been incident where I was a victim of bias from a particular teller. Case in point, back in late February of 2002 on a Thursday morning; as a bank customer with them, I decided to stop down to have my payroll check deposited  since job I once worked for also,  had an account with their bank for many years   to have my check (which was dated only for the next day) deposited, which we have been doing for the past couple of years with no problems until now because with my job having an account with them they know that the check is good. When I went to the window to present my check to the new teller for deposit, a long time bank teller, Elsie Miranda who has been employed there for years, interrupted and snapped at me, saying “we never deposit post-dated checks!!” She instructed the new teller to deny my transaction and I was turned away as she loudly belittled me in front of many customers who were waiting on line for service. It was as if I was asking them to do something drastically illegal. I would not have treated her that way. I left the place hurt and angry  I know that they technically do not have to accept post-dated deposits, but why lie and say that "we never accept post-dated deposits." What made things worst was another employee from my job went to cash his check and was able to have his transaction done with no problem. You mean to tell me that I cannot deposit my check, but my co-worker can have his post-dated check cashed?! If they so much did not do transactions on post-dated checks then why did they do it in the first place if that were the case? Something just didn't seem right. I only ask for simple service in a courteous manner, and this was what I got...lies and hypocrisy!  If the checks were drawn from their branch, they can always check to see if the check was good or not before conducting the transaction. It just goes to show what kind of people they are which I describe as two-faced and untrustworthy! You never know what their motives are.

Elsie described as petite, quite heavy-set,and outspoken has been employed at the branch before it has merged with another bank years back, and is one, who offends me the most; which is why I never wanted to be serviced by her to begin with. And is now the reason why I no longer bank at that branch. She's one who I describe as somewhat prejudice and may, instruct new tellers to treat certain other customers that she doesn't like to denying them transactions whether it be deposits or check cashing.  She's among those who treat certain customers as if they were criminals, and as if they were dirt. Forgetting that they are the reason as to why she has a job in the first place. Why do business with a bank where you are treated disrespectfully? I go to other branches of the same name to have my transactions done, where there are far more customers than the one located on 265 Broadway; and there, I am treated with respect by tellers who are more professional and knows how to treat customers. After all if she does not know how to treat her customers with respect, she shouldn't be employed as a bank employee. No one should not have to tolerate her rudeness and her quick mouth. After all she is lucky that she even has a job.

Bank employees who give customers shoddy treatment, can expect few customers in the near future. After seeing these particular bank employees for the what they are, I no longer want to go to their bank for service, I was left with a scar that would take a long time to heal. I've never asked anyone for anything and never expected anything from anyone. My reason for never wanting to bank at their branch ever again is that I, now have a deep distrust for them, and I abhor the idea of continuing to bank at a branch where I have been treated negatively. I've never treated anyone the way I was treated by an employee with a despicable attitude. As bank employees, they do have a right to not accept my bank deposit of a post-dated payroll check; but they have absolutely NO right to treat me with disrespect; just like they would not want be treated with disrespect when they want service from any place of business. For this, they gave me every reason to post this webpage as a warning to others who tends to bank there. I'm a decent hard worker who has been employed for over twelve years.
