Important Man

Come sit by the eternal fire
Upon Poe’s sandy beach beside the churning sea
Watch flames lick into the blackness of human night
Hear crashing waves of earthly man strife
Strike the shore in endless rhythm of time
Seagulls quiet, but hunger still rages
Crabs creep only forward from the salty bubbles
Wind, forever in the blow of movement
Symbiotic moon; white eyeball to earth
Trillions of giant star sparkles, more than, the sands
Peep from the black cape of universe sky
Onto a blanket of water droplet mist
Ocean body rolls in Trident depth
Embers glow of fire gone by burning
Sphere of whole universe magnificent
Pompous human tiny speck in the vast

Space

Divorce me from earth's tight hold
that hangs my broken boughs--
My life
Wrap me in the blanket of your cold,
empty, means--
life with pin-point blazes that star
your freedom.
Give me movement of unearthly grace.
Hold me, in your cold, starry, graceful,
Space,
wherein life means my freedom.

Sweet Singing

I heard a bird singing in the wood today
Echoing softly in the tree cape of leaves
She sang of life in warbly sweet timbers.
Summer air caught the bright notes like snow flakes in hand.
On boughs of silence the birds did wait.

I knew the voice from soft encounters
And silky touches forever part of me
The lips that shaped words shaped what I knew
Her shape forever anew.

The music stumbled; quivering on a point
A dove began to "ka-kull" in a slow counter rhythm.
The music became wet with tears
For she sang of a loneliness I could never cure.
I heard a bird singing in the wood today.
