For the first four months on the road, everything was fine.
One day, June 29, 2000, I found a new Link on the top of my "Main Editor" Page. It was for "Nominations" in the first annual "ODP Awards". Even though it was their "First Annual" Awards, the "Topic" in the Posting was "Editor Awards II". I still don't understand that. Anyway, I went there, and for the first time ever during my entire four months of Editing, I put up my very first Posting. I nominated myself.
I figured, no one else would nominate me, and I improved the PBS Categories greatly from what it was before I arrived. I asked to be nominated for "Most Improved Category", "Best Reorganization", and "Best New Editor". To prove this, I gave them the URL to Alta Vista's "Public Television" Site, which they never updated, so people could click on the URL, and see the now-over-one-year-out-of-date Category. I asked everyone to compare me. I also pointed out that I had removed such Sites as a "Dyke Site" out of "PBS". I didn't think to identify the Site by name, and the only ones who seemed to understand what I was talking about were the ones who actually visited the URL, as evident by another Editor saying "Click on his URL and it will explain what he was talking about". It just didn't come to me that people would never bother to take the Nomination serious enough to not have a look. This got the ball rolling.

I want to nominated MY category "PBS" as most drastically improved. I want you to compare the old version before I came here, to the new Version I put into place. I replaced all the "Dyke Sites" with actual real Public Broadcasting programming. You can see the older version at http://dir.altavista.com/Top/Arts/Television/Public_Television , because they never bothered to implement my changes as I write this. I also want to thank my "beautiful assistant" eric1public. Because of his arguing and fighting with me, it forced me to make it better still. While I'm at it, I nominate "PBS" for best Reorganization (see above), and myself as Best New Editor (see Above). I must be doing something right, because people keep e-mailing me with their questions, thinking I actually work at PBS.- PilotChase
Any URL you put into the Postings, automatically is created into a Link. They only had to Click on the URL to go to the AltaVista Page to see for themselves.
