So, this weekend I was watching TV and I heard two phrases used over and over and over to the point of being somewhat amusing, at least in my mind.
One was Ginuwine(or is it Genuwine?) saying "ya heard," after just about every sentence. "Now here's my number 15 video on the countdown, ya heard?" "The next song is by Missy, ya heard?" It's just one of times where you wanna call Ginuwine up and say, "Dog, stop saying 'ya heard' so much. Ya heard?" But, alas, I don't have his digits. Maybe I'll send him some constructive criticism via fanmail.
Ok, so the other funny phrase I heard was while watching a special about Oasis, the band, on VH1. One of the brothers(I think his name is Liam) says "You know what I mean?" even more than Ginuwine says "ya heard." Only he doesn't say it like I would say it. It's more like "Yu kna wha' a mean?" Very funny. For some reason, it just wouldn't sound as funny if it were said over and over in an American accent.
Actually, now that we're on the subject of too-used phrases . . . I think it's kinda funny in any accent. There was this girl in one of my classes last semester who always said "you know what i'm saying." Like, she would start to elaborate on a point she was trying to make and, before she finished explaining, she'd say "you know what I'm saying." And I always felt like saying, "No, I don't."
