knoll

today i walked into my math class and mr. shaw said to me, ". . . i just want to thank you for being such an interested and dedicated math student this year who i really have enjoyed talking to . . . and so i'm presenting you with this mug. it reminded me of you because it's almost your name." and on the mug it said "knoll," which is one letter off from my last name. it was just so funny. he said that some scary lookin' but nice kid gave it to him and he immediately thought "one of my students would like this." so he gave it to me. it's not like it was an extravagent gift or he bought it himself or anything. but just the fact that a silly little mug reminded him of me, a student, is really neat. shaw is just a neat guy--a wonderful teacher and a great person as well. he gave our class a little speach today about how we've been one of the best, if not the THE best class he's ever had in all his years of teaching. it was just so nice of him to take the time to talk to us and tell us that. so after he finished, i sat down and wrote him a letter telling him how much i've enjoyed the class and that i liked the fact that he seemed like such a real person to me and not just a teacher. i left the letter on his desk during lunch. hope he liked it.

i have to write a letter like that to Ms. Leone too. her class has been absolutely wonderful. again, as in shaw's class, it wasn't just that i learned a lot about the subject of the class. i also learned about real life. ms. Leone is one of those real people too. very down to earth, easy to talk to. she's got some amazing opinions on things like life and religion and literature. even though i don't always agree with her, (however, often i do), it's always interesting to hear her views on subjects like that.

anyhow, i think i'll go write that letter to her now. i'm in a writing kinda mood. bye.
