I changed the music on this page from “Beauty and the Beast” to the “Warsaw Concerto” because we have moved to Poland for a year. I thought “Warsaw Concerto” was an interesting piece. Sorry, I don’t know how to put that little box on the page. If you don’t like it, you will need to turn down your speakers. This version is by Richard Addinsell. I would have liked to have found a Rachmaninov MIDI, but this one is pretty nice. We live in Krakow, Poland but visited Warsaw (at least the Cargo at the airport) to pick up our dog. We would like to get back there for a visit, but there is so much to see around Krakow. We hope to get to Budapest, (paternal Grandpa is from there.) Prague, Berlin and Vienna while we are here. Might as well make the most of the situation. Hope you enjoy the “Warsaw Concerto”. Maybe we can visit Italy so I can put Vivaldi’s “Winter” from his “Seasons” on here. That one is truly awesome. For those of you who visit, please let me know what you think. If it this too boisterous, I will replace it with a more sedate Chopin piece. Cheers, Raven

Poland—What a truly interesting country. There is amazing beauty here. I wonder what it would have been like if Roosevelt and Churchill hadn’t ‘sold’ it to Stalin at the end of WWII? I have only been here two and a half weeks, but am already stifled by the old Soviet way of doing things, and yet the young people of this country are amazing. They are quite intelligent and very friendly. And, they are changing things for the better. Poland is scheduled to join the EU in 2004. I have met some really nice people and been helped by some incredible people (Artur) , but it doesn’t change the fact that there is a lot of unnecessary red tape involved in so many of the processes in this country. For instance, after having arrived here, we were able to get our dog shipped to Warsaw, a three and a half-hour trip one way from Krakow. There was a very nice lady named, Grace, who helped us with this ordeal, but the various offices and stamps and ‘go here, go there, come back here’ were in evidence. Our dog must have caught some kind of intestinal ‘bug’ in transit because she needed a vet a day after we got her. We had only been here a day, so we didn’t know anyone. Some people put us in touch with a vet and he came that same day (made a HOUSE CALL). Can you believe it!!! He was very nice and gave her some medicine. He CAME BACK two days later to check on her and gave her some more medicine. She’s fine. That was VERY impressive.

Someone has to have the moxie to show corporate America that they cannot treat people in such a manner!!!

SPELLS LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD

Bottom line is that everyone (and that includes corporate America, should be held to the “Principle of the Thing”….Principles are something quite lacking in corporate America today. It is time for a change! If a corporation freely gives someone something —then by the Universe, they should abide by it or reap the consequences of their actions!!! Take heed! (You know who you are!)

Blessings!
Raven

I don’t know who penned the next two sayings, but I like them and wanted to share them with you.

These things, I warmly wish for you-
Someone to love,
Some work to do,
A bit of o’ sun
A bit o’ cheer
And a Guardian Angel
Always near.

May joy and peace surround you,
Contentment latch your door,
And happiness be with you now
And bless you evermore.

Cheers,

Raven
