Dunguaire Castle -- surviving battles and sieges on Galway Bay since 1520 AD.

The Shrine of Knock marks the site of a church where fifteen townspeople witnessed the apparition of the Virgin Mary. In the years that followed, people traveled from all over the country to Knock where they were healed at this spot. Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa are among those who have pilgrimaged to this small town.

A picture taken from the driver's seat. We made a wrong turn on our way to Sligo and ventured deep into the Ox Mountains.

We knew we were lost when we saw nothing but sheep for 90 minutes!

NIGHT #3 - Primrose Grange House, Knocknarea, Co. Sligo.
Host Mrs. Maisie Carter.
This farmhouse was built in 1723 as a boarding school for Protestant boys. We stayed in the 'Headmaster's Room.'

The view from the farmhouse is that of the Ox Mountains, the coastal area, and beaches where Yeats found inspiration for a lot of his work.
