This question can best be answered by first stating what Wicca is not. It is not Devil-worship, it is not Satanism; it is not a parody of another religion; and, perhaps most important, it is not anti-Christian.
What it is, in simple terms is a positive, Nature-based religion preaching brotherly love and harmony with all life forms. Its origins are found in early man's development of religion; his animistic deities gradually being refined to become a main God and Goddess - bearing different names at different times and at different places.
As a religion, Wicca consists of individuals or groups of people worshipping the Deities in whom they believe in their particular way. There are different rituals for different times of the year. The religion is both Solar and Lunar oriented; the major celebrations being based on the cycle of the changing seasons, while the minor rituals occur at the Full and New Moon. The rituals have a Priest and/or Priestess to lead the rites, the solitary acting as his/her own Priest/ess.
Wiccans believe in reincarnation; in retribution in the present lifetime; and in harmony with all aspects of nature.
As Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender people we have been discriminated against because of our sexual orientation; and for some, we have found it necessary to remain in "the closet" concerning our beliefs as Wiccans The time has come for us to hold our heads high and walk in the glory and love of the Goddess and the God.
