Excursion Notes

December. In the past few months, I have returned to Crissy Field in San Francisco several times and continue to enjoy its beauty: quiet bay with sailboats, ferries, and occasional freighters; dramatatic waves near south tower of the bridge, bird-filled lagoon and many friendly walkers, runners, and bikers. See page 10 of recently revised book for a complete description.

June 18th. Good news! The southernmost portion of the Iron Horse Trail now connects with the BART Station in Pleasanton. This means that bikers (and walkers) who live in the East Bay can get to the trailhead in 20-25 minutes. Directions: exit from the station and turn left (west). Pass bike storage boxes and a cyclone fence enclosing the 84 Lumber Company. The parking lot and bus stops are on your right. Go straight ahead to find the trailhead.
