After you completely fill out a review request form, MAKE A COPY FOR YOUR RECORDS! This is what we ask you to send us after 30 days and you have not received your requested title. Send us a 9 x 12" self-addressed stamped envelope along with the copy of the form you want replaced and we will mail out your Free replacement forms.  In most cases the review request form was just sent to the wrong person or department or just got put into the wrong in basket. We can usually rectify these problems.  Click here for replacement policy.

Do not send a copy, or fax or email a review request. The only request that the publisher will honor is an original request registered in our database of writers with the range of request numbers we have issued to each writer. The publishers are instructed not to honor any request other than those on our original forms. They will just call us and we will tell them that they are to only honor original requests. We check the request number against our database of issued review request numbers that have been mailed to our writers. You must send in the proper Self Addressed Stampled Envelope per our replacement policy. Email, request, fax or mail request without stamped envelopes and copy of your original request form(s) WILL NOT BE REPLACED.

Publisher Information - Fill in the publishing company name and complete address. In the Route To blank you may put "Product Marketing Specialist or Director of Marketing.

Date - the date you are mailing the review request form.

Ship Requested Title To - This is for your name, address, telephone and email address. Sometimes a publisher will have question and need to get in touch with you. Print clearly! This is where the review title is shipped. If they cannot read it, then you may never get your requested title. When we are following up on request that were not shipped and we see from your copy you mailed us to use for tracking, an illegible address we cannot replace that request form.

Review Title Requested - Fill in the correct name of the title you are requesting. If this is a software request then be sure to write in the requested version number if you know which version you want to review. Or just put in "latest version". Be sure to check the operating system you want the software to work on.

If you do not have a CD-ROM, then you must write in under the requested title line, "Please ship on 3 1/2" IBM PC diskette or Macintosh diskette depending on what you need.

When to call the publisher - When you cannot get their address off the Internet or from any other sources.

Calling the publisher to get a person's name to send the review copy is helpful, but not necessary. Most publishers handle their own public relations and marketing. Some very large publishers will use a public relations firm to handle all review requests. Microsoft uses Waggener Edstrom. Most publishers will forward your review request to their public relations firm if necessary. DO NOT REQUEST A COPY OF WINDOWS 95, IT HAS BEEN REVIEWED TO DEATH! Do not request any free items such as Internet Explorer 4.0.

Tell the receptionist or who ever answers the phone that you are a free lance writer for Editor's Choice and need to talk to someone in marketing about sending in a request for a review copy. They will direct your call to the proper person. If they ask what you have written before just say you are a new writer for Editor's Choice.

Frequently Asked Questions when you call a publisher:

Who are you? I am a write for Editor's Choice. If they ask what have you written about lately and you are a new free lance writer for us, just tell them that.

Who is Editor's Choice? - Editor's Choice is a review service that reviews computer software and books. They distribute these reviews to over 22,000 magazines and newspaper for publication. This is done via email push technology with our twice monthly newsletter Editor's Choice, which is emailed to over 22,000 magazines, newspapers and newsletter publishers.

Where can I see some reviews? Our web site for the book and software publishers to visit for the information that they need is located at www.revieweditor.com. When I finish writing the review of your book (or software title) my editor will email you a copy of the review.

Most requests will be shipped to you between 3 and 10 days. Some take as long as 30 days. Some will never come. Add two to three weeks to this time if you live outside the United States.

Most common reasons why you did not receive your requested review title after 30 days:

1. You did not print clearly.

2. You did not have the proper address for the publisher. For instance Adobe has many offices in the U.S. but only their main office sends out review request titles. If your request was sent to another office, most likely it just got tossed in the trash can.

3. The firm does not send out review request titles. (very few firms are in this category. But a few do, for instance we have never had a single review title sent to us from the publishers of Corel products. Yes you can still try, but in the last two years we have never received one.

4. You used and incorrect address or failed to place postage on the envelope..

I will repeat the following because it is so important!

Do not make copies of this form to submit to publishers. The publisher is instructed to not honor a request that is a copy of our forms or a fax or email request. Do not request more than one title on a single form. We have been supplying free lance writers with review titles for the past two years. We know what steps that are required to get the requested review titles to our writers.

When you call the publisher to get the proper address don't try to impress them. Just tell them you are a writer for Editor's Choice. Do not volunteer any information unless they ask. You simply want to get the proper address and the name of the person who handles review copies. The person's name is not as important as the correct address of the office that actually handles sending out press review copies and press kits for the product that you are requesting.

DO NOT MAIL ANY REQUEST FORMS TO EDITOR'S CHOICE!!!

THEY MUST BE ADDRESSED TO THE BOOK OR SOFTWARE PUBLISHER, RESORT OR RESTAURANT OR PRODUCT MANUFACTURERS.

PLEASE BE SURE TO ADDRESS THE ENVELOPE - WE GET SOME RETURNED EACH WEEK WITHOUT ANY ADDRESS ON THE ENVELOPE.

Use only our forms and envelopes to send your review request to the publisher.

BUT DO NOT SEND ANY REVIEW REQUEST FORMS TO AMAZON.COM or any other distributor or retail outlet or web page. These are a resellers, not a publisher or manufacturer. All request forms must go to a publisher or manufacturer!
