November 4th, 550 loses its top and gets a hot new rival
Has Ferrari gone mad? Or do they just want the headlines? They have cabrioleted the 550! Yep, that’s right, the 550 has been made into full open-top style. If you want one, you’d better have a wallet the size of Manhattan, though, as this beauty of a car costs a whopping (cheesy word) £172,530. Like the coupe, styling is handled by Pininfarina. Most of the car is thankfully the same-including the spiffing (what is up with my words today?) 5.5 litre V12 engine.
The coupe version of the 550 now has some hot competition in the shape of an Aston Martin. The Aston Martin Vanquish has a stunning specification, including a huge V12, 450 BHP at its disposal, a top speed of 190mph (yes, that’s one hundred and ninety), 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds and a price tag to match, weighing in at a bank busting wallet wilting estimated £170,000. I do believe Ferrari will be worried about this one.
