Jnana (SKT) Ye-shes (TIB), literally “primordial knowing.” Wisdom. The activity of enlightenment. Knowing which transcends all dualistic conceptions. Perfect intuition. See Shin; Zen.

Joy of the Philosophers An alchemical phrase referring to the stage of the Great Work (the production of the Philosopher’s stone) just prior to success, when the Stone or Matter is at the perfect White Stage. Sometimes also referred to as “beholding Diana unveiled”or “Philosophical White Gold.” At this stage the Alchemist may rely on the quality of all previous efforts for, supposedly, only the greatest clumsiness will now prevent the attainment of the Red Stage.
